AM Radio Receiver Circuit Schematic Diagram
Simple Electronic Applications March 5th, 2010The following circuit diagram is an AM Radio Receiver Diagram using TDA 1072AT Integrated Circuit. It is an Integrated Circuit assembled by Phillips Semiconductor for AM radio receiver. It is made specially for main-fed car radios and home receivers. The voltage controlled oscillator gives signals with very low noise and high special purity over the whole range of frequency eventhough turning on with variable capacitance diodes. Radio frequency radiation and sensitivity to interfere are minimized by a symmetrical design.
There are some main features of the TDA 1072AT, they are the double balanced mixer gain controlled RF stage, inputs are protected againts damage by static discharge, separately buffered voltage-controlled and temperature-compensated oscillator, gain-controlled IF stage with wide AGC range, gain-controlled RF stage, double balanced mixer, full wave balanced envelope detector, internal generation of AGC voltage with possibility of second-order filtering, AF preamplifier with possibilities for simple AF filtering, electronic standby switch, and the buffered field strength indicator driver with short-circuit protection.
The signal comes out from the IC’s pin 9 can be used to drive a meter, to indicate the strength of the signal [Philips Semiconductor Application Notes]
