The Honda CBR250R ignition system completed with a digital unit consists of built-in microcomputer which produces best ignition throughout its operating speed range. This pulse has seven projections. The 45 degree separation from (1) to (7), and 90 degree separation from (7) to (1). The crank position and engine rpm for each cylinder are detected from the relative position of the two pulser coils and the sever projections. Two pulser coils are installed in a way to have 15 degrees inclination from level line for PC2 end compared to PC1. This offset also called the angular offset. This is to detect the crank positions. The circuit schematic diagram can be seen in the bottom of this article.

The “O-Reference” is a time when the pulse rotor’s projection passes the PC1 pulser coil. With the o-reference, the engine rpm can be determined. Then the microcomputer will determine the ignition timing.
