The Ignition system of Suzuki RGV250 consists of CDI unit, generator, battery, spark plug, ignition coil, and switches. In the CDI unit there is a DC-DC converter which steps up the voltage of the battery to a higher voltage which the charges the capacitor (C). This mechanism will generate an SCR connected to the capacitor turned on and allows the energy stored inside C discharged instantly to the ignition primary coil. This thing would induce a high voltage in the secondary coil and then a hot spark jumps across the gap of the spark plug. Now we know that the spark occurs when the SCR is generated. We can also say that the SCR being turned on is the ignition timing. This is controlled by the control circuit which process the signal generator pulses to form an SCR gate signal. This SCR gate signal is then sent to the SCR. THis happens just if the crankshaft has already reach the best ignition timing for the engine revolution in the time being.
