The starter system of Volvo 1995 is a series-wound electric brush-type electric motor equipped with an overrunning drive assembly clutch. A spline armature shaft drive end carries drive assembly, field frame is enclosed by commutator end frame and drive bushing and carries field coils and pole shoes.
The components of this system consists of the following in alphabetical order : armature, bearing bushing, bendix drive, brushes, brush holder, brush spring, bushing, commutator, control solenoid, fiber washer, front bearing housing, lock ring, permanent magnet, planet gear, rear cover, rear bearing cover, rear bushing, rubber washer, rod, sealing ring, shift arm, shim, starter body, stop ring.
